Marina Master’s software solution, a product of a European family owned company, has recently entered the United States market with the first customer being a large Marina Group in the Boston area. The customer started using Marina Master’s advanced solutions, designed specifically for marinas and yacht clubs. Marina Master’s solution for each marina and yacht club was prepared and precisely implemented and customized according to each marina’s specific needs and individual plans. The Marina Management solution is not just technology, but also a new mindset that affects the organization, enabling a re-think of the marina staff work pattern, culture and more. Therefore, the Marina Master team designs an individual strategy for each marina.

The customer’s main goal was to automate the management system and remove reliance upon individuals. They were looking for a user-friendly, simple solution to enable them to easily move each slip’s position, location, and status of occupancy. They wanted to have the ability to add new services so that the system could be as “future proof” and flexible as possible. They wanted also effective integration to QuickBooks (import General Ledger Journal). Another extremely important requirement was that the solution could support multiple marinas and with the capability to add more in the future, with common customer and boat data, but separated financial data for each marina.

IRM Ltd. project Marina Master Sens Control was recognized as one of the best and innovative projects that will improve research & development potential and competitiveness of Slovenia companies. The main goal of the project Marina Master Sens Control is to improve marina management with implementation of new advanced solutions and latest technologies (smart phones, smart CCTV and more) enabling automated monitoring of marina berth's occupancy and other processes in marina. The nature of customer's behaviour and needs is indeed changing. Innovation is key for marinas to survive.

Today’s marina managers need to adapt fast in rapidly evolving and maturing marine environment.

Marina users expect ability to communicate with marina and order marina services from anywhere anytime, with other words they would like “to take marina with them” when they are home or at the sea. They would like to have ability to order not only general services but also individual services anytime from any mobile device, for example ordering bottle of champagne on arrival.

Marina users also expect that they could “take their boat home”, which means having ability to control and check the real-time condition of their boat through software’s camera from any mobile device anytime.

Marina user and staff require fast, immediate and preemptive responses while raising a request. For example innovation - assistance per berthing/arriving will keep marina staff on alert when customers come near marina on water/land and therefore enables marina users to self-order assistance per berthing/arriving from any mobile device any time.

The ratio between self-help and staff-help must be provided in the appropriate level depending on the service specifics and customer needs.
